Protesting Brother’s Yahoo Mail
For years now the number one, most popular, almighty, free and independent email provider, none other than GMail, has been offering salvation to the masses. But for some all-that’s-unholy reason there are still folks out there who continue clinging to the lesser old world email providers; my younger brother being one of them. As much as I’ve tried to be a good brother, modeling the best ways to e-communicate and collaborate, boasting of GMail’s far superior bundled email, documents, calendar and chat software, and in spite of my best efforts to show him the true path that is so awesomely GMail, he simply laughs, scoffs and could care less.
Compared with the god-like Google Mail, what does a progressively failing Yahoo email account still have to offer all those poor lost souls out there? Very very little, I proclaim. Yahoo is a mere fading memory of yesteryear, dying on the Internet vine ever more every day. It’s hey day is long over. In fact, Yahoo so closely resembles AOL email that it frightens me to picture my poor wayward brother, madly tapping away on his keyboard with his two index fingers, using the likes of an AOL-esqe email interface. I feel nauseated at the very thought.
Sadly official email interventions have failed; email rehab too. As much as this pains me, I only have one recourse left, to protest my dear brother’s defiant Yahoo use… by easily and effortlessly implementing my handy dandy GMail filters, setting it to detect all incoming Yahoo mail and have the fruits of his addiction swiftly destroyed straight to the trash! Pa-tooey! <— That’s me turning my head and spitting! Damnit brother! <— That’s me cursing my brother’s wicked ways.
Worst of all, he recently acquired an Android smart phone and set it up with a new GMail account. Initially learning of this, I was ecstatic and very pleased that he saw the glorious Google light. But later, to my grave disappointment, I learned he doesn’t use it for anything more than mobile chat and continues to send me his dirty deprecating Yahoo email. I hereby protest publicly! My only hope is that dear mother and father will never learn of brother’s horribly irresponsible behavior. =)
