Windows, Once Infected

infectedYou should know, that once your Microsoft Windows machine is infected, the health of your machine has been compromised.  Although you may be fortunate in successfully removing the infections, this invading software was designed with a specific intent and that is to modify your machine’s behavior in one way or another.

These changes can be mild to wild.  Regardless of how mild the alteration of your operating system, something has been permanently changed.  Over time, and with enough small changes, you will find you machine behaving differently in a possible variety of ways.

Consider the idea of someone being able to re-wire your brain, just a little bit each time, every now and again.  Your own behavior and/or performance may suffer.  You might think, walk or talk slower, or exhibit peculiar behaviors or maybe just shut down altogether.  Your Windows machine is not much different in that respect.

Ideally, every end-user wants it to be easy and simple to use their machine without all the worry and frustration of infections.  Wouldn’t that be a perfect world?  And shouldn’t it be that way?  Where you are free to go wherever, do whatever, download whatever, all without a single concern and at zero cost.  This would be an Internet-computing Nirvana!

Eventually, when Windows fails you for the last time (and it will) and you’ve grown tired of all the time, cost and frustrations it inherently breeds, you may turn your attention to Linux; Ubuntu Linux, to be exact.  And once you go Ubuntu, you will be asking yourself, “Microsoft who?”

Ubuntu is Nirvana!  Taste it!  Eat it up!  Breathe it in!  Love it up!  Every day, every day, every day and forever!  How many Windows’ users can boast of such warm regards for their operating system?

Experience total freedom.

PC Performance: The Point of No Return

Just because you can download and install most software on your Microsoft Windows PC, doesn’t mean you should! Yet people do. And sometimes they suffer the consequences. Does your computing lifestyle cause you unnecessary grief? Perhaps it’s the false sense of security, having virus protection and cleaners at the ready? Or is it that people don’t fully comprehend the dangers of their online behavior, often wreaking havoc on their operating system? Be selective and Google (research) these programs before installing them.

On the other hand, some folks lean toward the other extreme, not feeling comfortable with installing anything, including those all important Windows Updates and those who fail to perform any other periodic preventive maintenance. This is a recipe for disaster! Then it is only a matter of time. Your computer will continue to slow down more and more, until it’s just too painfully slow and/or unresponsive to use, or there may be popup programs demanding money to keep you safe, similar to how the Mafia works. We will protect you, if you pay us. Look! After running OUR scanner, we’ve detected hundreds, if not thousands of infections or configurations to tweak for best restoring your computer to it’s former good state of health. Yeh right, or we’ll just take your money and leave you high and dry, holding an empty bag. Never ever pay for this kind of scam!

At some point, your belated efforts for reviving your machine will show little return on your effort; even after running all the updates and cleaners. All of the of the horses and all the King’s men won’t bring your performance back again. Keep in mind, if you are successful enough to rid yourself of any infections, does not mean everything is okay.  All infections were designed to reconfigure your system in one way or another, in order to accomplish it’s deviant purpose.  Your system may likely still be altered for the worst; a PC point of no return.  Chances of reversing the damage are close to nil.

In this case, the next step is to consider re-installing the operating system. At this point, you might ask yourself which operating system will best suit you, Windows or Linux? Which, if you’re not inclined to do yourself, you may end up paying someone else to do for you, or you buy replacement machine, or do without. Like neglecting your own health, your vehicle’s or your computer’s, it may be costly.

Are You Ready for Linux?

You might be ready for Linux, when…

  • you have paid more for tech services than the computer originally cost.
  • you’ve have had to re-install your Windows operating system more than once, due to system performance issues or failure.
  • you are uncertain how to care for your own machine and can no longer afford the professional maintenances and fixes.
  • you execute all of the Windows updates, cleaning and scans and produce little to no increased performance or stability.
  • you are often and repeatedly frustrated with the ever decreasing performance of your Windows OS.
  • you are tired of constantly having to run cleaners and scans, to combat various infections.
  • you are tired of always having to rely on others for help.
  • you are willing to purchase a new replacement computer because your current machine seems hopeless.
  • you are ready for a breath of fresh air and want to enjoy your computer experience versus struggling along.
  • you move past the fear of the unknown and are ready to embrace something better.
  • your online lifestyle is not Windows friendly.
  • Windows XP is soon no longer supported by Microsoft.
  • you own Windows Vista operating system.
  • you experience Windows 7 SP1 (Service Pack 1) fatal error flaws
  • you cannot afford a Mac.
  • you want the very best, carefree and inexpensive computer experience available.
  • what you read above sounds familiar to you.

Notice I used the word when and not if.  For the average Windows operating system user, these difficulties and frustrations are a reality and only a matter of time; when it happens, not if.  Some choices in life are no-brainers; Linux is the solution.  See JoliJef’s post: Linux is 90% of What You Already Know.

Happy Mac Users

Just like many people have been caught up in the whole idea of PC (Windows) vs Mac train of thought, I was guilty of this.  To the masses, Mac might seem like some foreign and pricey operating system for high-end, snobby users, however I’m learning this thinking isn’t entirely true.  I know that I’m a little late in getting to the Mac table, but better late than never!

What I’ve come to realize is that although Mac products tend to cost more initially, I cannot help but also take serious note that Mac users actually save money in the long term.  Why?  Because the system is essentially trouble-free; no constant threats of infections, software incompatibility, no ever waning performance issues and no frequent need for tech support.   What does all of this mean for the end-user?  It means Mac users are generally happy people.  They’ve got it easy, not having to always fight to keep their operating system updated, protected and performing well.  No need to pay tech support to do all of this for them, when they don’t know how to themselves; meaning they are hassle-free, saving time and money.  Their only concern is how will they spend their time on their actual computing interests, not the computer itself.  Let me repeat:  They are NOT concerned with the computer itself! They are busily enjoying the most excellent care-free digital life!

Clearly countless Mac users have already discovered these extremely valuable qualities, yet even more end-users have not.  Last I heard, Mac users comprise of only 5 – 6% of computer users.  As I have delved deeper into the World of Linux, and realize how very similar Linux is to Mac, I have a profoundly marked appreciation for the Mac operating system.  To all of the nay-saying Windows users out there (as I myself once was), I implore you to strongly consider the most wonderful alternatives: Mac and Linux operating systems!

And should you find that, when you finally remove the Microsoft blinders from your eyes and genuinely realize there are other dimensions to the computing World, try your hand at Mac or Linux, because there’s no reason you cannot learn to appreciate what they have to offer without totally abandoning your Windows OS.  Although, with serious consideration, you very well just might!  A much better computer experience awaits you!  What are you waiting for?  Plain and simple, Mac users are HAPPY users!  Free yourself!
